Rostruct operates both within the Geotechnical and Mining Services sectors mainly on the African Continent. Rostruct originated in 1956. The business then operated only within the Geotechnical sector. In 1991 the group was acquired by a Swiss holding when the international shareholders decided to divest their interests in South Africa due to the impending change in government and to concentrate on their other international operations. The holding has more recently been restructured through a Mauritian holding company; Rostruct (Africa) Ltd.

Rostruct’s operations head office is based in Midrand which is midway between Johannesburg and Pretoria in South Africa. The offices were developed and are owned by Rostruct. The offices in Midrand comprise a work shop, stores and administration offices. The Mauritian office comprises an administration office for the operations outside of South Africa. In additional more recently a sales office has been set up in Perth, Western Australia to service those Australian clients operating on the African Continent. Rostruct has proven to be reliable and senior management have a hands-on role on the operations front.

Rostruct employs a total of 15 staff at the operations Head Office in Midrand with a further 120 staff employed directly on-site. Rostruct has also operated all through Africa and has experience in dealing with remote sites as well as within the challenges of moving heavy equipment through African border posts and difficult conditions on time.

The areas in which Rostruct operates are as follows:

  • Surface Mineral Exploration and Precementation for Shafts and declines.
  • Specialised Cementitious Grouting for Water Sealing; both on surface and underground.
  • Services to the heavy civil construction market that are focused primarily on ground modification and specialized structural support, including, major structures, dams, tunnels, shafts, utilities, and other civil facilities. These services are used to improve weak, unstable soils, providing support and groundwater control for excavation including jet grouting, micropiles, vibratory ground improvement, geotechnical drilling, compaction grouting and anchors.

Safety and Training.
Rostruct prides itself with its safety track record. Rostruct has not recorded any work related injuries on any of its sites. This is due to the stringent training courses that are undertaken with the staff as well as the high standard achieved in the maintenance of equipment.

Black Economic Empowerment and Work Place Practices.
Rostruct is classified as a Level 3 BEE Contributor. As a result Rostruct is a preferred contractor in South Africa. This has proved to be a major asset in the Rostruct’s successful award of some major contracts within South Africa.
